Frans Horsthuis (1921-2018)

Frans was born in Apeldoorn in 1921 and grew up in Winterswijk and was ordained a priest in 1947. After his ordination as a priest, Frans became successively chaplain, teacher of religion and pastor. In 1968 his (honorable) discharge followed, because he wanted to live according to the Word of his Lord: "Seek first the kingdom of God, and all else will be added to you" (Matt. 6:33). From that moment on Frans went to live in a room. From this room he received his further assignment to (gradually) let go of everything. After living in a room, he moved into his car and wandered around in it. He took another step further and got rid of his car and went around on his bike. Finally, the bicycle also disappeared and he continued on foot. Frans lived without money and has experienced all his life that the Lord has really thrown "everything else" to him.

Frans has left everything behind and therefore lived without a permanent place of residence or residence. He visited people, individuals, who wanted to grow towards a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus, in the Netherlands and far beyond. Frans' mission in life was further “to pray for a renewed Church of Europe and a new vision for it. For the last eight years, until his death, he lived in Doetinchem, where he is also buried.

The basis of Frans's life was, Jesus alone (1 Cor. 2: 2)! Jesus only as the answer to all life questions.

The Royal Road

As you can see on this site, Frans has written several books and booklets. We know that many friends of Frans have become acquainted with him by reading the book “De Koninklijke weg”. We therefore recommend that you read that book first.

Frans valued living without money and all his books are therefore available for free through us. From the first book there was always a request to order just one copy. We still want to hold on to that, because we don't care about distributing the books in large numbers. The books remain available for free, but if you still want to contribute something (we use the received donations for the next edition), you can do so by transferring a donation to account number:
